PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE REQUIRED ACTION
CHECK AIR INLET FILTER FOR BLOCKAGE.
POUR AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO AIR INLET AS PER INSTRUCTIONS.
OPERATE TOOL IN SHORT BURSTS, QUICKLY REVERSING ROTATION BACK AND FORTH.
REPEAT ABOVE AS NEEDED. IF THIS FAILS RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
POUR AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO AIR INLET.
OPERATE TOOL IN SHORT BURSTS OF FORWARD AND/OR REVERSE ROTATION
(WHERE APPLICABLE).
TAP MOTOR HOUSING GENTLY WITH PLASTIC MALLET.
DISCONNECT SUPPLY, FREE MOTOR BY ROTATING DRIVE SHANK MANUALLY.
IF TOOL REMAINS JAMMED, RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
REPLACE SOCKET RETAINER RING WITH NEW PART.
FOR ANY AIR TOOLS, DO NOT USE CHROME PLATED CONVENTIONAL SOCKETS UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES AS THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PRACTICE, USE ONLY HIGH QUALITY IMPACT
SOCKETS AS LISTED IN THE DRAPER CATALOGUE. CHROME PLATED CONVENTIONAL SOCKETS
CAN SHATTER AND CAUSE INJURY.
LUBRICATE CLUTCH HOUSING.
CHECK FOR EXCESS CLUTCH OIL. CLUTCH CASES NEED ONLY BE HALF FULL. OVERFILLING CAN
CAUSE DRAG ON HIGH SPEED CLUTCH PARTS. A TYPICAL OIL, LUBRICATED WRENCH ONLY
REQUIRES

OUNCE OF CLUTCH OIL.
GREASE LUBRICATED: NOTE:
HEAT USUALLY INDICATES INSUFFICIENT GREASE IN CHAMBER. SEVERE OPERATING CONDITIONS
MAY REQUIRE MORE FREQUENT LUBRICATION.
REPLACE NEW ‘O’ RINGS.
LUBRICATE TRIGGER WITH AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL. IF TRIGGER REMAINS JAMMED RETURN
TO SERVICE CENTRE.
REPLACE WORN PARTS.
POUR A LIBERAL AMOUNT OF AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO AIR INLET.
OPERATE THROTTLE IN SHORT BURSTS WITH SOCKET ENGAGED ON THE BOLT.
IF MOTOR REMAINS JAMMED RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
CHECK FOR DIRT IN AIR INLET.
POUR AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO AIR INLET.
OPERATE TRIGGER IN SHORT BURSTS.
DISCONNECT AIR LINE SUPPLY, THEN TURN DRILL CHUCK BY HAND. RECONNECT
AIR SUPPLY.
IF MOTOR FAILS TO TURN RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
POUR AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO AIR INLET.
OPERATE TRIGGER IN SHORT BURSTS.
DISCONNECT AIR SUPPLY, ROTATE DRILL BY HAND. RECONNECT AIR SUPPLY.
IF STILL NOT FUNCTIONAL, RETURN TOOL TO SERVICE CENTRE.
RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
REPLACE ‘O’ RING OR RETURN TO SERVICE CENTRE.
POUR AIR TOOL LUBRICATING OIL INTO INLET VALVE. OPERATE IN SHORT BURSTS. PLACING
HAMMER AGAINST WOODEN SURFACE.
IF TOOL IS STILL BLOCKED, TAP HEAD OF BARREL GENTLY WITH PLASTIC MALLET.
IF TOOL IS STILL SEIZED INSERT ROD INTO BARREL AND LIGHTLY TAP PISTON.
MOTOR PARTS JAMMED WITH DIRT PARTICLES.
POWER REGULATOR IN CLOSED POSITION.
AIR FLOW BLOCKED BY DIRT.
ONE OR MORE MOTOR VANES STUCK DUE TO
MATERIAL BUILD UP.
MOTOR SEIZED DUE TO RUST.
WORN SOCKET RETAINER RING.
WORN SOCKETS OR USING CONVENTIONAL
CHROME PLATED SOCKETS.
MOTOR PARTS WORN.
CAM CLUTCH WORN OR STICKING DUE TO
LACK OF LUBRICANT.
THROTTLE VALVE ‘O’ RING BROKEN OR UNSEATED.
THROTTLE VALVE STEM BENT OR JAMMED WITH
DIRT PARTICLES.
WORN TEETH ON RATCHET OR PAWL.
WEAK OR BROKEN PAWL PRESSURE SPRING.
WEAK DRAG SPRINGS FAIL TO HOLD SPINDLE
WHILE PAWL ADVANCES FOR ANOTHER BITE.
BLOCKED MOTOR.
MOTOR OR THROTTLE SEIZED WITH DIRT.
ROTOR VANE SEIZED.
MOTOR VANE BROKEN.
GEARS BROKEN OR JAMMED BY FOREIGN OBJECT.
‘O’ RINGS THROTTLE VALVE DISLODGED FROM
SEAT INLET VALVE.
SEIZED PISTON IN CYLINDER BORE.
BLOCKED VALVE.
IMPACT WRENCHES
TOOL RUNS SLOWLY. AIR FLOWS
SLIGHTLY FROM EXHAUST.
MOTOR WILL NOT RUN. EXHAUST AIR
FLOWS FREELY.
SOCKETS WILL NOT STAY ON.
DRIVE SHANK WEAR.
TOOL RUNS AT NORMAL SPEED BUT
LOSES POWER UNDER LOAD.
TOOL WILL NOT SHUT OFF.
AIR RATCHETS
MOTOR TURNS. SPINDLE DOESN’T RUN
OR RUNS ERRATICALLY.
MOTOR SEIZED - RATCHET HEAD ROTATES
BY HAND.
AIR DRILLS
